We're good to go for SIX months!

We visited with Dr. Colvin yesterday, and got a green light for the next six months! Dr. Colvin checked us out and said everything looks great! He was thrilled with Austin's growth and how much he is talking! All of the nurses were so excited to see how big he is! Austin is talking up a storm! It was a good visit and we'll head back in March of next year (unless something changes before then).

Dr. Colvin also explained to us that Dr. Knott-Craig (Austin's heart surgeon) has left UAB and is moving to Memphis. He will begin operating there sometime late fall, and chances are that Austin's third surgery will be in Memphis with Dr. Knott-Craig. We were sad to hear that he has moved, but very relieved to hear that Dr. Colvin will send Austin to Memphis for his next surgery. Hopefully that'll be a long time from now, but comforting to know where Austin will go when the time comes.

Thanks for sticking with us and walking this journey! Stay tuned for some picture updates soon!

Wow! God is so good.
I came across this blog while reading some stories on Doctor Knott-Craig.Our son Ethan also has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and we were so lucky to have Dr. Knott-Craig perform the surgery. Ethan is also doing fantastic and is scheduled to have his 2nd surgery in December. We are still trying to decide if he will have the surgery here, at UAB, or if we will be traveling to Memphis. We have just been praying about it and letting God lead the way so the best decision can be made for Ethan. It is so encouraging to read about Austin and how well he is doing. He is so precious. It seems like you have a great support group and that helps so much. We will pray for Austin and his continuing good health.

congrats on how well your son is doing!:) Dr. Knott-Craid is my son's surgeon as well. They are scheduling his second heart surgery for sometime this week or next-he is almost 5 months old-anyways i'm not sure where you are from but i had to look into wether or not Dr. Knott-Craig would be able continue surgeries with out of state patients and thank god they are accepting outta state medicaid(not sure if you use medicaid) but there was a pretty bid debate on wether his patients would be able to follow him! But we got the big green light!:) Good luck! trully!
