Austin is doing so well taking his bottle! Yay! They're still only giving him a little milk at a time, but he always wants more! Our goal today is that he can come back off the IV and have more milk!
A funny story to share...as of 10 p.m. last night Austin hadn't pooped in almost 24 hours and the nurse told us that when the doctors came around they'd probably give him a supository to help his bowels move. The doctors were checking on the baby beside us and all of the sudden Austin pooped in his diaper! We all laughed saying that Austin heard the doctors coming and didn't want the supository so he pooped in his diaper! It gave us all a good laugh!
Continue to pray that Austin will improve. Pray that he can come off the IV fluids today and increase his bottle feedings. Pray that he won't have any more blood in his poo-poo, and if it does continue, pray that they can find the cause. Also, remember to continue praying for Andy & Heather.
God is using Austin in a mighty way, he is already such a blessing to us all. Thank you for being a part of his life through prayer!

Hello Austin and Family...we are a family from Kansas and have a little boy that was born with HLHS in October 2003. Dr. Christopher Knott-Craig did his first two surgeries in Oklahoma at the Children's Hospital. I am writing to you to let you know that we think that Dr. Knott-Craig is the very best in the world!!!!!! We did our research before our Daric was born (he was diagnosed through a routine ultra sound at 18 weeks.) and our research told us that the best surgeon for our little boy was only 3 hours away! Dr. Knott-Craig is a brilliant surgeon and I promise you that he cares 100% about all of his "babies"! Little Austin is so lucky to have Dr. Knott-Craig in Alabama but we were so sad when we heard he was moving. Our son has one more surgery (The Fontan) but we will definitely be coming there to see our HERO, Dr. Knott-Craig. I am glad that I somehow landed on your website (through searching HLHS) because now I know that Dr. Knott-Craig was needed in Alabama for your little guy!!! We trust him so much!! My reasoning for writing was to let you know that we will be keeping little Austin in our thoughts and prayers, along with prayers for his mommy and daddy (because we know or at least think we must know how difficult of a time this is for them.) and to let you know that your little boy is in the best possible hands---Dr. Knott-Craig is amazing! Our little boy, Daric, is a very happy and thriving three year old with a whole lot of energy!!!! He had his first surgery at 4 days old, then the hemi-fontan at 6 months old. He is nothing but smiles these days! Sending lots of prayers to Austin as he continues on his journey. Tell Austin's surgeon that the Voss Family from Kansas says hello! Lots of Heart Hugs to all!!!!
The Voss Family,
Mona Gayle, Richard, Daric and Brayson
P.S. Austin's mommy can e-mail me anytime if she wants to share stories or just talk to someone that understands HLHS. mgvoss@cox.net
